Details from Devils Bowl Speedway>>>>
Went out to track early, and just hung out. We were not able to enter until
after 5pm. Racing started both days at 8 pm.
ASCS has a draw for starting lineups, similar to everyone else, so no
surprise there. And yes, Chris drew terrible. Started in back of first
heat, finished 5th. Had to go to B-main, started 8th and actually went to
the front fairly fast, and led the majority of that race. Had a late
restart, fell back to 4th, and passed back to 3rd for finish. There was a
total of 49 cars, so there was 2, 18 car B-mains. So yeah, there was a lot of
really stout cars that never made the show. Chris started last row in
A-main. 2nd lap tipped over when hitting a rut, but no damage, so continued
on to finish 17th. His top wing came apart towards end of feature which
cost him a few spots. Overall, looked very competitive. Saturday night was
same car count, and yeah, drew terrible again. Started in back of heat, and
again finished 5th. Pretty much follow the leader in heats and in B-main.
Started B around 10th, and finished 8th. It looked to me that Chris had an
even better car on Saturday, however didn't have a very good end result.
There was a lot of good cars that did well one day, and never even made the
show the second day.

Coming off his best season with NOSA, Chris Shirek will be heading to Las Vegas to compete with the World of Outlaws for the Season Finale at the The Dirt Track/Las Vegas Motor Speedway. With Doug Slocum heading up the Shirek team, Chris is looking to get some good seat time and possibly start/finish the feature amongst some of the best drivers around the sprint car world.

Chris impressed many of the WoO drivers during the Duel in the Dakota's especially one full time WoO driver who gave him a pickup truck full of tires! The team has purchased a Karl Kinser motor as a spare to go along with the other Wesmar engine.

SoBe Energy Drinks will be the newest sponsor for the Vegas tour, along with Shirek's regular season sponsors... Chris Shirek Racing News 7/2/04
With River Cities Speedway canceling the July 2^nd Program, Chris will be heading south to the Jackson Speedway to participate in the 360 Sprint program July 3^rd. From there, he plans on heading to Madison , MN to run the “July 4^th Blowout WISSOTA Sprint Car Spectacular”, sponsored by Jubilee Foods.
Look for the #1 Maxim Chassis powered by Wesmar & Jones powerplant to be near the front as Chris will be looking to pick up his first feature win this year, after collecting a handful of heat race wins, and running consistently in the top of the NOSA Series.

Stop by his hauler before or after the races to buy your 2004 Chris Shirek T-shirt and get an autograph of one of the young up-and-coming sprint car pilots in our area.
